If you have met someone new on a dating site, who seems to be the right match for you, would it matter to you whether or not they had ever been in love before? By the time a person reaches a certain age, you expect they probably have been through a few different experiences in their lives, including falling in love. If you have met a new partner who has never been in a long-term relationship or claims to have never been in love before, should this be a red flag?

Everyone develops at their own pace, and it shouldn’t matter if your new partner has experienced love or a relationship prior to meeting you. There are plenty of late bloomers out there who may have been concentrating on their career or other aspects of life, and a relationship, up until this point, has not been a priority. If the two of you hit it off, this is certainly a topic worthy of discussion. But if you ask him or her why they’ve never been involved before, the answer may be quite simple: it might be because they haven’t met the right person up until now.

You may be concerned that if your new mate has confessed they’ve never been in love or in a long-term relationship, you might think they may have commitment issues. This is certainly a concern and you should definitely bring it up to discuss. But many people truly have not met the right one and they don’t want to waste their time getting close to a person if they feel there is no future together.

Is there something wrong with someone who has never been in love? Not at all. They might not have had good role models in the past and maybe they felt they had to avoid love at all costs since it only seemed to bring pain. Or maybe they simply didn’t feel the need to settle down and didn’t recognize the feelings because they legitimately didn’t feel anything. Love is complicated, and though some feelings can be defined and shared, other feelings are hard to determine. It’s a very personal thing. If your new mate feels love is impossibility, you might want to suggest finding a relationship counselor to talk to which could benefit you both.

We live in an immediate gratification society and it seems to be getting worse instead of better. People want to meet online and feel love instantly. And when they don’t, they simply abandon ship and move on to the next. Perhaps your new love didn’t want to put in the time to get to know the other person the minute he or she realized feelings weren’t running too deep. There does come a time for many people when they feel the need to settle down and find the right one. If your new partner has been looking online for love and has told you they want to stop dating and invest in a long-term relationship, he might be ready to take the plunge and you might be the lucky person he takes the plunge with.

Have patience and don’t immediately disregard what this person has to offer. He may have not been ready to feel love in the past, but he may be ready now. Remember, you can’t force someone to fall in love with you, but if your current partner is ready, you won’t have to do anything.

As we enter the midway point to 2011, more and more people have experienced what it is like to date online. Gone are the days where it was taboo to meet someone from the Internet. Dating websites like eharmony and Match.com have been around for awhile, but now, additional dating sites are popping up like crazy. So yeah, dating online has now become part of our everyday culture, and many couples can attest to their attributes with their own success stories of how they found “the one” by dating online.

However, every now and then, we hear of an online dating encounter gone horribly wrong. Yes, we still live in a scary world, and the big, bad wolf is still wandering around out there. Now, he wanders around online too. When we hear these stories, it doesn’t mean we should rule out online dating altogether. But we should see them as cautionary tales, and realize not to take anything or anyone for granted. You cannot be naïve and believe that you are 100 percent safe when you hook up with someone online.

Now, don’t start getting too paranoid. But heed the advice, and use your common sense. Online dating works; you just need to be smart about how you proceed. Some of these examples seem like no-brainers, but you would be surprised what type of information people give out to total strangers when they are feeling vulnerable and desperate for love.

Don’t give out personal information like your street address, place of employment or social security number for that matter. I know, I know…why would you give your social security number to a prospective date? Maybe you wouldn’t, but some people have been known to fall for outlandish cons.

When you’re first getting to know your online date, hold off on letting him know your last name. There’s plenty of time for that, and it’s not necessary when you’re first getting to know each other. Again, don’t be paranoid, but trust is essential so always err on the side of caution.

When you’re meeting in person, always meet in a public place. Again, this may seem like a no-brainer, but it needs to be stated. And even after meeting in a public place, don’t suddenly go off with him because you think everything is fine. Stay in the public place for those first few dates. Remember, if this person means you harm, they will do everything they can to gain your trust and then make their move. I’m not suggesting you run background checks on everyone you date, but you do need to feel confident this person is who he says he is.

Trust your instinct. Never underestimate the power of your gut. It knows all. If something feels a bit off, then it probably is. Listen to your inner voice and if red flags are popping up, cut the date short. Even if there’s nothing ominous about this guy, you’re not feeling it, so why prolong the date by staying there? Get out, go home, and move on to someone who makes you feel truly comfortable.

Again, it’s all a matter of common sense. Just don’t too complacent. Use your best judgment and be safe out there. But also, enjoy yourself and have some fun. You might just meet the man of your dreams.

The post-breakup blues can suck out all your stored-up positive energy, but a quirky seven options that can put you back in the Christian dating game in no time. The dating game is never over, or finalized – around any corner or in any church, or online can wait the love of your life. The only failure in dating is letting prior disappointments and heartbreak diminish your chances for future happiness.

You can listen to love ballads and soak in self-pity, or you can avoid that you were hurt in a prior relationship, either way the avoidance will only compound your heartache and lengthen your time on the dating bench. If there is one added benefit of the Christian dating game it’s that you should be able to forgive your former partner for the heartache they caused.

Here are seven ways to self-soothe after the initial impact of a break-up. Choose the one you think might work, and those you don’t think will work. Try everything!

Shower: There is metaphorical value to washing away the guilt of a broken relationship. Sometimes a shower can be an escape, an opportunity to shed a few tears that get lost in the shower but still gives you the relief you need. And you get clean, which is an added benefit. Oh, and you can sing as loud as you want.

Pushups: a little physical exertion can pump endorphins through the body and replace some of the negative feelings that we pent up. Turning it on and making an especially tough regiment of pushups can even make those arms look a little more tone.

Wine: Nothing wrong with a glass or two to help you relax. Anything more than that and you can be in trouble, but red wine is proven to decrease blood pressure.

Movies Solo: Ever gone to the movies by yourself? IT can open your eyes to the nature of relationships and maybe provide perspective on the power of individual strength.

Guided Museum Tours: Visiting your home city is an underappreciated activity for those living in cities of all sizes. People line in NYC for five years and never make it to half the museums. Why not? Many time you can fall into a small group, learn some new facts and come home with a little more confidence. And it’s a lot less expensive than a flight and tour in a European country.

Write it Down: In three years you’ll be surprised how pathetic you sounded at that moment of heartbreak. Christian dating means you have an open relationship with the lord and the significant other, when it feels you feel abandoned and that melancholy can produce some really bad writing. Try and see what you sounded like even a week later.

Step Back in the Game: Nothing is more therapeutic than a positive attitude and the determination to find someone who’s a great fit for you and your Christian lifestyle. Taking too much time of can make you gun shy, so don’t delay and start booking up your calendar!
